Alex Klepnev was born in 1961 in Ordzhonikidze (now Vladikavkaz). In 1985 he graduated with honours from the North Ossetian Medical Institute. For the next 35 years he worked as chief ophthalmologist at Ophthalmological Centre of the Ministry of Health of North Ossetia - Alania.
“I fell in love with drawing as a child, although no one at home drew. My inspiration was rock music, mainly art rock: Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd. Then there was a big break due to the demands of everyday life. About 10 years ago I felt the need to draw again and began to master information technologies. After that I got involved in the design of logos, vinyl album covers for electronic music, music bar interiors in Europe and even a science magazine in Scotland.”
In 2018 he drew several covers for singles of Russian hip-hop performer Husky (song "Judas", album "The Gospel of the Dog").
In 2020 Aleks made covers for a new edition of Viktor Pelevin’s books (published by Russian largest publishing house EKSMO).
Currently Alex is working on illustrations for "Game of Jart", latest novel by Gloria Mu.
